There is a VMFS Datastore named Production1 and we would like to change it to Testing1.
There are around 10 VMs in that VMFS Volume. We would like to know is it necessary for us to shutdown those VMs (Or migrate to another VMFS Volume) before we rename the VMFS Volume Production1 ?
Thanks
In virtual centre you are able to right click the datastore and select rename and rename it without stopping/affecting the vms.
I would think you will need to migrate them to different datastore before renaming. Since eash VMX will have path reference.
I have done it and seen no adverse effects from doing it so far.
