Hi to all,
our migration strategy is based on leaving the OS Partition on a VMFS disk while the Data disk will be on RDM.
The Servers involved in the migration will be a SQL Server and a Web Server, both on Microsoft Windows Server 2003.
While obviously the SSP for the LUN containing the OS partition will be LINUX, how should i set the SSP for the RDM Luns ?
Linux or Windows?
Thank in advance for your kind support, bye, Luca
The operating system profile is a characteristic of a "connection" object, which describes a link from the servers Fibre Channel Adapter (WWN) to a specific controller port. You cannot assign a profile to a logical disk (LUN).
Even if you would run any RDM LUNs through a different physical adapter, you would set the profile to what is required for the VMware ESX server, because RDMs are handled by the VMkernel.
Luca-
Set the RDM LUN for the guest OS.

DOH!!!! Sorry...Bugchk is correct.
Luca-
Set the RDM LUN for VMware ESX. And mark bugchk as the correct answer.
