WYSE Terminal Setup connecting to VMWare

I’m currently evaluating the VMware view software, but am finding it very difficult in finding documentation on how to setup the Wyse Terminal (Model Number V10L) up so that it can connect to one of my Virtualized PC’s.

I do currently have the VMware View Client working so I know all is well on that side.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thank you,

which build of wyse thin os do you use?

generally, user can go to network tab, and there is some text boxes like PNA/VDM (VDI) borker setup

Hi,

The handiest way is to set up an FTP site and use the wnos.ini file to automatically configure the options. If you search this forum you'll find a few other posts with sample wnos.ini files. If you're thinking about deploying the V10L it's good practice!

PS - otherwise you'll need to go to Network Setup / Servers - select VDI Broker Type : VDM - type in "https://<fqdn of view broker" into VDI Brokers field at a minimum to connect. Plus you should have a bright blue background from the newer ThinOS, best to get your hands on that too. You have to use the FTP to upload it, hence another good reason to set that up....

OK, so it looked like my main problem was that the VDI Broker Type was set to "Default" instead of "VDM"

Now the last error that is present says

"DNS\WINS can't resolve

I have nothing on the test network that is named that, so extremly confused.

Hi,

This is totally a Wyse issue - try the following link as they have good resources about setting up your FTP environment and address the error you are seeing:

Red,

I used this document to setup the Wyse Terminal, but I am getting the following error when I try and login still.

"Sign-on service unavailalbe"

and in the log

DNS\WINS can't resolve (wyseftpfbc4tc)

Do we need a special license from Citrix to be able to use their wyse client for this purpose?

Made some head way today, Got the FTP server installed and configured the WYSE is now getting the WNOS.INI from the Server Hosting the FTP.

I was checking the log of the VMware View Manager today and noticed the following two erros, which I think could be playing a pretty big role in why I can not connect to the VM's via WYSE terminal.

"Problem Connectiong to VirtualCenter at https:192.168.0.218:443/sdk (java.net.ConnectionException: Connection refused: connect)" = Error Msg

and

"Unable to establish a connection with VC<https://192.168.0.218:443/sdk> using VIM 2.0 Bingding" = Warning Msg

I can connect via the VMware View Cleint just not the WYSE terminal

did you try to manually just enter your broker address, i.e. http://your_view_server_here or are you using a wnos.ini? It's best to get it working by entering manually first and then create your wnos.ini with further cusomizations, etc... Post your wnos.ini here if you have it.
