View Datastores - Structure

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I am having a hard time finding a good reference for laying out my View datastores. I am working with a Dell 3200i storage unit with all the bays filled, I am not sure what approach I should take in building/ balancing the groups out in terms of performance/ redundancy. Currently I have configured two storage groups to play around with as I have a few months before I bring in pilot users, so there are no issues with having to revert or delete items as I get a better idea of how things will work in my environment.

Few considerations, I have two hosts, stacked switches, MD3000i ~8TB, 160 users.

View 5, vCenter 5, etc (latest editions)

I don't have plans for Local Mode Clients, so space that would be allocated to such a cause is not a concern.

Anything I can read or reference to guide me? I've trolled the guides and such with nothing to solid on this topic, or maybe I've totally missed it or missed understood a portion of a guide(s).

Thanks for your kind assistane in this matter.

Regards,

Will

Hi Will,

based on you post I see you have already searched through guides but..

I'm used to use the documents on this link: http://www.vmware.com/products/desktop_virtualization/view/technical-resources.html

In the design section you will see a doc called "Storage Considerations for VMware View" which is very useful.

Concerning Dell you may consider to read the following doc even if it is not related to your 3200: http://en.community.dell.com/dell-groups/dtcmedia/m/mediagallery/19856905/download.aspx

Let us know

Sam

(my 2 cents)
