I have View server 5.0 on a Win 2003 machine and I need to upgrade it to 5.1. According to the documentation, "Upgrade at least one existing View Connection Server instance to View 5.1. See “Upgrade View Connection Servers in a Replicated Group,” on page 25. During this upgrade, your existing View LDAP will be upgraded." I do not have another View server that I can upgrade to 5.1 first as this is my only View server.
Can I safely install View 5.1 on the new server and be done with it (since I only want 1 View Server)? Or is there a more involved process?
Since View 5.1 is only supported on 2K8 R2 operating systems I would follow the steps below.
1: Build new 2008 R2 server with 5.0 and join it to exisiting View environment.
2: Retire 2003 View connection broker.
3: Upgrade 2008 R2 server to View 5.1
