Dear community,
if we purchase Vmware Foundation it says it is including licences for two ESX 3i hosts. Can we also use regular ESX 3.5 ?
In our tests 3i has proven to be not as reliable as ESX 3.5, so we do not want to use 3i.
In the foundation licence, are all those options of the evaluation available:
nas usage, san usage, iscsi usage, 4way SNMP?
Thanks,
Marcp
VC Foundation is exactly the same as regular VC you're just limited to managing 3 host with it (3i / Foundation / Standard or Enterprise). Have you already purchased your licensing? If not, then you might want to look at the Foundation bundle here which includes VC Founaditon and 3 ESX Foundation licenses - http://www.vmware.com/solutions/smb/whats_new.html. With those 3 Foundation licenses you could install either ESX 3.5 or ESXi 3.5. You would also have NAS/iSCSI/SAN and vSMP with the Foundation licenses.

you would however be limited to ESX Foundation (Starter) that means no VMotion, sVMotion, HA, DRS, DPM. see the here for fuller details
