RDS windows 2008R2 on VMWARE

I'm doing PoC to host 4000 concurrebt users on terminal server at the moment, is any real benefit to host under vSphere product or better off with install them on physical server?

the server will be HP C7000 with blade bl685 with 4 x 12 core, 215G Ram on each server, what is a best practise to calculate number of VM and vSMP to be use and run smoothly specially at login state.

thinking about 50 users per VM, 4 vSMP, each VM got sufficient memory (will make sure it not bollon and separate swap page), 500g per lun, paravirtual dsik type, disable page share & auto COM, etc. and vmnet.

IMHO, yes... is better plan it on a virtual environment.

You will need several servers in a load balancer cluster, so why not consolidate them?

And think also to a solution for application virtualization to deploy application in a simple way (you can choose between App-V, included in RDS R2 license, or thinapp).
