NFS Permissions

We are planning to have VMFS Datastore on an NFS Share. Could someone please tell me what permissions are needed on the NFS Share? I guess root on the ESX host is used to access the NFS Share so i guess the NFS Share needs read/write access by root?

Yes, that is true. If you can tell what NFS server you will be using, I am sure you can get even better configuration hints from us.

I beleive you are correct, to run a VM on NFS the owner requires Read/write access. Check the Best practices for your NAS vendor to clarify any specific needs.

Hello,

Here is a descent doc on the subject: http://www.anbecom.com/wordpress/?p=129

The steps would be a little different for other NFS servers/platforms but it should give you a good idea of what is required to make it work.
