minimum vSphere (ESXi 4.0) license for backup exec 2012

I plan to backup VM with Backup Exec 2012

and current I use free version of ESXi 4.0 (cannot backup with Bacnkup Exec)

Then I want to know: What is a minimum vSphere (ESXi 4.0) license to buy for backup exec 2012

(Essentials, Essentials Plus or Standard?)

Thank you

This information not clear.

They told Standard License is required but next They told minimum license is required (I think minimum license is Essentials, right?)

Thank you

I'm not 100% sure whether Symantec has special requirements, however to unlock the vSphere API any paid license (Essentials or better) will do.

Does Essential or Standard Edition has trial/demo key?

If it has, how to get it.

I want to test in mytest system to comfirm edition to buy.

The only evaluation you can officially get is the "Enterprise Plus" edition which - by default - is enabled for 60 days without adding a license key. The only way I can think of to get another Edition is to directly contact a VMware sales representative.

However, I'm almost sure (close to 100%) that Essentials will be all you need.
