how to export a VM to a bootable.iso

Hello All,

I have VMware ESXi 5 installed with a currently running VM.

What I would to ask you is if it possible to export this VM as

a bootable .iso in order to be able to install it later on a dedicated server with the very same settings of the VM.

Is that possible ? How can I do that ?

Many Thanks.

Kind Regards,

Nikos

You'll need something like Norton Ghost or a similar tool.

Welcome to the Community,

no, vSphere does not provide such an option. What you can do is to export a VM in an OVF format, which you can import on other systems supporting this open format.

not an iso

but you can export it as a ovf/ova and that should work fine.

I like ova since its one nice package that you import.

the settings should stay the same

heres how to do it:

Thank you all for your immediate replies.

So, in order to clear this out :

I cannot convert a ESXi 5 VM to a bootable .iso ?

My objective is to install this VM to a new machine, dedicated for this VM (i don't need virtualization anymore),

that's why i need this VM which is a CentOS image to install it on another server.

What I am looking for is something similar with this http://www.geekconnection.org/remastersys/ but for CentOS

what you mean is that you want to do a virtual to physical conversion.

that makes more sense.

do what mcowger told you.

Norton ghost is probably one of the better tools..
