can we add user for ESX 4.0 server for accessing through VI client?

I was trying to add user through vspehere client for providing it to many people for access as I dont have vcenter for few ESX boxes. I did try for all the options but still I am not able to log in to Vspehere client with the users created. IS it like only root should be used to connect with vspehere client?

Also, after you create the user go to the permissions tab and give the newly created user administrator priveledges on all objects

Hi,

You should be able to create a user under the Users & Groups tab once you connect to the host with the vSphere Client.  Have you done that?

Certainly if you are looking to give the user administrative access I would add them to the root group.
