Unable to install ESXI5.1 or ESXi5.5 through CD in Dell 1950 Servers?

Dear all,

I am unable to install ESXi5.1 or ESXi 5.5 in my Dell 1950 servers through CD rom, interestingly the same ISO image when mapped through virtual media gets installed in Dell R 610 servers without any problem. I burnt the ISO image in new CD also and that's also of no use. Checksum is also fine, and I used external CD rom also, though its getting detected, I am unable to install the ESXI, having difficult time to deal with this, kindly help me.

Where are you getting stuck? Does it show an error or?

Hi,

There are Two front usb ports on the 1950 ,could try to install it via a USB, see here Install ESXi 5.1 using USB Flash Drive ~ VMware Arena

Will try USB boot once and update you, @ tom, i am not getting stuck, its loaded the preloaded OS, not recognizing the image in the CD.

As you are able to detect same iso in a different server,may be your server is having some issues with CD drive.

Go on with the USB installation.For sure it will work for you.
