P2000 Volume Sizes as Seen by ESXi 5

Hi All

I've got an HP P2000 FC array connected to an ESXi 5 host.  I've configure vDisks and Volumes on the P2000.  I can see, and build Datastores on those volumes, but ESXi sees them about 6% - 7% smaller than the P2000 says they are.  Any ideas why?  I don't like wasted space, of course.  But, I'm more concerned that I may be missing something important here.  I'm new to ESXi and FC arrays.

Thanks much!

Welcome to the Community,

this may be an issue of how the array handles sizes, base 10 or base 2. Unless I'm mistaken the P2000 uses base 10 in which case e.g. 1,000GB on the storage are really only ~976GB in reality.

Do you have any snapshot features enabled on the array?

Thanks André

The math works.  P2000 is uisng base-10, ESXi is using base-2.
