Netbackup 7.0 to backup ESX 4.0 Virtual Machine

Hi there,

Do I need to buy any netbackup agent for the ESX to backup 30 virtual machines using Netbackup 7.0?

Is there any specific configuration that I need to configured on the Netbackup or any VCB Proxy that I need to download and installed?

Does it perform a direct backup vm backup and how much disk space is required as these 30 virutual machine uses about 1.2TB.

Pls advise.

Hi,

with NBU 7, you have two option, VCB or vStorage API. The first needs a VCB proxy host, the second needs an offhost backup host, both can be w2003 or w2008. You can backup all of your VMs without any agents, but with restrictions of course (for example no RDM). For vStorage API you have to upgrade vSphere to 4.1 IIRC. Any details of your VMs?
