Is there a way to enforce Thin provisioning at ESX level or vCenter level?

I am unaware of a way in which only thin provisioning can be applied to a newly created VMDK. I believe, as this is a required configuration option for the creation of new Virtual Machines that it isn't possible to 'enforce' only thin provisioning.

I think something like this is essential in a enterprise scenario or for automation. I would like see this ASAP.
