ESXi RAM is not displayed correctly.

By mistake, we increased the RAM of one of our virtual machines to 322GB. When the ESXi reached 86% of RAM, we realised and lowered the vm to 32GB, but the ESXi still shows the same percentage, it has not gone down at all.

What is the reason for this?

Best regards and thanks,

Thank you very much for your reply, it was very helpful.

In my case restarting the guest operating system of the vm, solved the case.

I attach a screenshot, it was made from vCenter.

After you lowered the RAM have you tried to migrate the VM to a different host or shutdown and restart the VM?

Hello @Gobik_SportWear ,

After reducing the RAM on the VM to 32GB the same is not updated on Esxi due to a glitch. Perform the below 3 steps.

1. See if there is any Memory Reservation on any VM. If reservation is there then remove it.

2. If the VM is running on Snapshot then consolidate the snapshot and then check.

3. vMotion the VM to another Esxi and back to same Esxi and check.

4. If nothing from above works then reboot the VM and check.

Please let me know the results.
