10GbE Networking in ESXi Running in Nested KVM on a QNAP NAS.

Hello all,

I am currently running VMware ESXi 6.7 in Nested KVM on a QNAP TVS-1282T3. I am attempting to find the drivers for my 10GbE cards inside my NAS as at present I am only limited to Gigabit Connectivity for my Virtual Machines. My network card inside my NAS is an Intel X550T, of which I found the drivers for on VMware's site and installed them. However, the network card still doesnt work. Upon further research I discovered that the Virtualization Station that is hosting my ESXi KVM instance bridges the connection and as such when using 10GbE connectivity makes use of the Red Hat VirtIO Network Adapter Driver. I have looked for this driver on VMware's site and have so far found nothing.

If anyone could assist with the above issue I would be very gratetful.

I have included a screenshot of the RedHat VirtIO device appearing in the PCIe Connections in VMWare ESXi 6.7 on my NAS.

Kind Regards,

Ashley Brown
