VDR or EsXpress for production vm backups/recovery?

I am looking for VM backup/recovery of exchange/sql, file svr, general app servers but looking over these forums....it is making me a bit nervous using VDR. I have't tried any other option yet...but expect I will. During my brief testing on general servers, it worked ok.

My question is if anyone is using either of these or some other 3rd part app to do complete VM backup/recovery - especially for Exchange/SQL? How has your experience been during an actual or test recovery?

Hello and welcome to the forums.

I have used esXpress for backup and recovery of SQL and Domino boxes with great success. It just works like it is supposed to, and you don't really have to think/worry about it.

Another thing to think about is your retention policies and whether you need backup data on tape/offsite/etc.

Good Luck!
