Battery Backup on ESXi 4.0u1

Is there any way to initiate a controlled shutdown based upon the status of a battery backup?

Currently i use an APC unit to hold up all my servers and have one of the machines initiate shutdown on all of them when the battery reaches 50%.

Is there any way to do this in ESXi directly on the hardware or otherwise?

Thanks.

I have ran into the same issue, but VMware officially do no have any kind of control. I needed to create a sort of scripting for doing snmp queries to shutdown VMs and hosts.

The issue is that for the free-license, the necessary scripting interfaces are read-only. That can be worked-around, see here.
