How to decrease hard drive OS Linux

Hello everyone!!!

My infraestructure 4.1

vCenter

Cluster with 4 host ESXi

I've installed a virtual machine with OS Linux Centos.

I've assigned a 20Gb space in its hard drive.

Machine virtual runs ok. But, I would like to decrease its hard drive. I want to decrease up 10GB.

I don't know how. Does anyone know??

I think that the only way is to use converter application with the option power-online-machine

Thank you very much!!

Jose.

vmware converter would be the best option with the resize HDD option set at the end. another way is setting your current VMDK to THIN and you will freed up the unused space.

If you would go for THIN disk provisioning, i strongly recommend you to read this - http://communities.vmware.com/thread/296983.

But the thing is you should have Enterprise Plus licenses.

Thanks,

Ganesh

+1 for vConverter. It's the safest and fastest way of shrinking/growing a Linux VM.

VMware Converter is also the only supported option that I know off.
