vcenter service critical

I have a vcsa. I can log in via sso web gui,

If I go to Admistration, the deployement, then System Configuration and then Node, and then

services: there is a service called "vCenter Server Service" - this service is shown as critical.

I have restarted the service - still shows as critical.

How can I find out what the service really is and how to find the problem?

Is this servcice based on a user for startup, etc.

Thanks,

Ollie G (I am confused)

the service is question is vpxd service. Is there any error message when you check the service health status?

Oliver G,

Not sure what vcenter version you're using, but have you tried checking the status of vcenter in VAMI? https://vcenter:5480/

Hello Guys,

Thanks for the reply. I restarted the VCSA, and now narrowed fault down to this email message:

vpxd status changed from gray to red.

I have checked the vcsa, and and it just gives me info like "vapi-endpoint status changed from red to yellow"

I am running VCSA 6.0 to the latest patch level: 6,0.0, build 13638473

Now I am getting a warning for the vapi endpoint service.

I have another vcsa which is identical configuration with no warnings and no errors.

I have stopped and started the service, and restarted the service - this does not help.

Can you direct me to a link or two on troubleshooting the vapi endpoint service?

It would be nice to fix it, if possible.

Hello brend26,

here are the error messages I get for the service:

I have restarted the service to see if it helps.

Here is what I get now:

Are you using Linked mode vCenter server??

By looking at the error message it seems you have some stale service registration which causing this issue.
