Suspend vm when system is inactive

Hello,

we have about 330 virtual machines (vmware vCenter server 5.5.0) and often peaple doesn't suspend or shutdown machine.

I would able to change power state (exemple from power on to suspend) after 4 hours of inactivity.

Is it possible?

Thanks a lot!

Hi, welcome to the communities,

how do you define a VM as inactive?

You could create an alarm for a group of VMs, that triggers when the CPU usage is beneath 10% for 60 minutes. As action you can suspend the VM.

I think 60 minutes is the max time for CPU usage you can configure though.

Thank you tim.

This is the problem, how to define the inactivity.

I've created an alarm when cpu is below 10% and then the machine going to suspend. 60 minutes is too little. The best times would be around 4\5 hours.
