Working on a migration of Oracle from physical servers to VMware environment. Also, note that the current vCenter database is Oracle. The migration would include upgrade to Oracle 11.2.0.1. The current vSphere environment includes: vCenter 4.0 update 1 and ESX 4.0 update 2.
We have looked at the Compatibility Guide but could use some clarification.
According to Table 12 in the Compatibility Guide, If we are going to run Oracle 11.2.0.1 we need to be at vCenter 4.1 Update 1?
For the other databases that would be run on VMs running Windows 2008 Enterprise -- we don't have to worry about anything else? The real question is could the ESX hosts stay at 4.0 update 2? There is no compatibility issue with Oracle and ESX -- only that the compatibility version of Windows 2008 is running on ESX?
