Best Practice; Native tools for ESXi 6.5 server backup

All,

Starting point; Home server, Home Lab; Minimal Budget for upgrade

I apologize but this is probably a pretty newbie question.  I have a server that "technically" doesn't meet the ESXi 6.7 hardware specs. HPDL360p8

I was planning to drive to attempt a RAID Drive configuration on Drive0 (C:/) from R1/0 to R5, and maybe after that attempt an upgrade to 6.7.

I was thinking something like;
Backup VMFS
Blow away R1/0 and recreate with an added drive and make R5
Recover VMFS
Boot server to VMFS and enjoy a bigger server C: drive
Maybe attempt 6.5=>6.7 upgrade

I'm hoping that there are some kind of NATIVE tools, or decent home lab tools, or even Vendor Eval copies, to allow this.  As this is my home lab all costs come out of the home budget.

Any guidance or recommendations how to backup and grow my R1/0 drive to R5 is appreciated.

Export your virtual machine as OVF, backup ESXi configuration and reinitialize your RAID configuration.

Then, install ESXi, restore ESXi configuration and import virtual machines.
