Entitled ThinApp package with Workspace client = No Launch of app.

I got my first ThinApp package entitled and showing up (from the end user perspective.).

Now when I go to launch it, the following happens (short, short video): http://screencast.com/t/m9Exbeqj1Js6

Any thoughts to what is / isnt happening?

My expectation is that the package would launch.

Note: This is everything I uploaded into the share containing the ThinApp. Is there something else I should have maybe put in there? http://screencast.com/t/zdwGFYL4QmH

Thanks in advance.

Found the answer to #1:

"You can provide Horizon Workspace users with access to Windows applications captured as ThinApp packages. To use ThinApp packages with Horizon Workspace, you must join the Active Directory domain and sync ThinApp packages from the Windows network share."

I noticed that when I click to launch the app, the "address" is horizon:blahblah

I've copied and pasted here to show you what I mean...

http://screencast.com/t/8mZS7hVu

I dont have a server or DNS lookup called "horizon".

Could this be what's wrong?

Should I create an alias of HORIZON for gateway-va ?

I discovered WHY it's happening, but I dont know how to fix it.

The app isn't synchronizing successfully into the App Cache on the Windows client.

The damning line below is

[2013-07-30 14:47:12] CThinAppCache::CThinAppNotificationCallback::JobError: [ERROR] [.\appcache.cpp:2507] job failed with 'Access is denied.

'. err=1

The other clue for me was -2147467262 which indicates that some protocol isn't being met. So I joined the domain.. and bingo.

My machine was NOT domain joined. Now it is.. and it's working.

So.. if anyone is reading this: Can you *NOT* have a domain joined Windows machine run ThinApp apps from Horizon ?

(Logs BEFORE I figured out what the problem was is below.)

I just now need an answer to if non-domain joined machines should be able to get ThinApp apps .. or not.

Your clients need to be domain members for ThinApps to work.

Okay.

Thanks .. I got that... but..

1. Where is that documented in the install guide or reviewer's guide or somewhere obvious? (Just want to see with my own eyes what I missed.)

and..

2. What about iOS and Macs, etc etc. How can THEY run ThinApp apps if they're not domain joined?

Or .. is the "Applications" node simply not presented on non-Windows devices (and also not in the iOS client) ?

When I watch VMware videos like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHZoUiDFeVE&feature=em-subs_digest

What exactly is happening here if it's not launching thinapp packages?

1. I'm not sure where it is documented.

2. ThinApp packages can only execute on a Windows environment.

In the video they are accessing a VDI session over PCoIP and accessing the Windows Desktop that way, the ThinApp package is not executing locally.
