How can I mount a snapshot of a vm online to work in parallel with the same vm at the same time?

Hi there,

How can mount a snapshot of a vm online to work on independently in parallel while the vm is still running at the same time?

The idea is to have two working parallel instances of the same vm based on the same VMBASE image.

Eg:

Think, i have a vm named VMBase

and 3 snapshots; VMBASE_SNAP1, VMBASE_SNAP2, VMBASE_SNAP3

while the VMBASE is still online (powered on)

i want to mount VMBASE_SNAP2 as a new VM online (powered on) in parallel.

So while my primary VM goes on running on its VMBASE_SNAP3 state

i can work on the VMBASE_SNAP2 based copy instance of it.

And when i am done i will destroy VMBASE_SNAP2, and go on working with primary unaffected.

Is there a way to do so?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Selaf.

You cannot run two instances of the same vm parallel.

You will have to clone the vm, revert to SNAP2 and start the cloned one, so you have two independet vms.

If you are done, you can delete the whole cloned vm.

BTW: you are talking about mounting, but do not want to mount anything ;). You mount something to access its file system.
