Alternatives to VMware-Mount ?

I'm looking for a solution that will mount a vmware server vmdk file as a local disk under windows, although vmware-mount allows mounting the vmdk as a local drive it does not appear as a true block device in windows, it does not show up under disk manager and cannot be managed using diskpart. When the server is rebooted the vmdk has to be mounted again.

Using hyper-v I can mount a VHD file and treat it like a local physical dis, even after a reboot the disk still remain mounted, can also mount a disk with no partition and use diskpart/disk manager to create partitions

Is there currently anyway using vmware to achieve the same functionality I am able to achieve using VHD files.

Thanks

None that I know. There was a forum post claiming this support, but it did not work for me.
