When do vmdk file dates get modified on a Datastore?

How can I find the modified date of a VM on a vCenter datastore?
My VMs are thin provisioned.
I have looked at the files on the Datastore and these do reflect any changes for many days even if the VM has been patched and rebooted.
The swp and log files change.

I am trying to diagnose an issue where user states the VM has changed and causing problems.
I need to prove the issues are end user related.

I emailed tech support, still waiting for a reply.

thanx

Hello
I had answered this question a few days ago - not sure what went wrong ?
Here is a short summary:
> I am trying to diagnose an issue where user states the VM has changed and causing problems.

Thin provisioned vmdks get modified everytime a new 1mb blocks needs to be added - but this changes are not trackable by the timestamps in the UI.
So if you want to check any obscure statements made by users - then you have to describe your case with complete details.
