Nodes capacity in cluster

Hello all,

I have a question about clustering:

can we put ESXi with different memory capacity in the same cluster. for example for a stretched cluster with 4 nodes: we put an esxi with 100 GB of ram and 1 ESXi with 200 GB of ram in the first datacenter, and the same ESXi capacity ( 100 GB and 200 GB ) in a second datacenter

Hello,

sure you can do it but is not recommended, because the balance between hosts with different memory capacities will be difficult, this doesn't mean that will not work but this adds extra calculation that you need to bear in mind when you start deploying VMs inside. Also in your case, since you are saying stretched cluster you need also to add an extra calculation step, I suppose the configuration is for DR/BC purpose, so a possible suggestion is to not go over 50% of cluster usage in order to sustain a possible entire site failure. You can also work with DRS rules for maintaining a particular VM to a specific group of hosts if needed.

I hope it is enough but if further information are needed let me know
