VMware vSphere

VMware 6.7 u2 ESXI 6.7

I have two vcenters both vcsa 6.7 U2

Each vcenter has 4 ESXI hosts.

DRS is enabled

My question is my VMS are moving from one host to another automatically.

The resources on the hosts are minimal.

Am I missed configured?  I would like to move the VMs manually if needed.

Fine. Hope you configured vMotion network correctly and VMs moving around within the cluster. Also you enable HA and DR on both VC on respective cluster.

If you configured DR fully automated then VMs will move around within the cluster. If you configured DRS partially automated, DRS applies recommendations only for initial placement of VMs. If DRS configured manual mode, you must apply the recommendations for both initial placement and load balancing recommendations. Talking about manual migration you can do anytime from one host to another.

I wish to stop to movement of the VMs automatically.

This is happening all the time vms are moving from one host to another.

How do I stop the movement of the VMs automatically??

Edit the DRS settings... there are settings about sensitivity, you can set it to half manual or disable certain VMs from DRS or just setup some Affinity Rules.

Not required to disable the VMs. You can just set DRS mode as partially automated or manual as per your choice...

They have changed that. Its now under "VM Override" and cover all exceptions which include HA,DRS,SDRS and so on.

This is beauty of DRS to move the vms around to balance the resource. If you want to stop auto movement then you need to change the DRS mode as mentioned earlier. Edit DRS settings and set the mode as you want.. In other way also do via DRS affinity rules which you can pinned the vms to run on specific hosts..
