Cannot connect to vCenter 6 Appliance - Help!

Hello,

I cannot connect via web browser to my vCentre 6 appliance, I get the error:

503 Service Unavailable (Failed to connect to endpoint: [N7Vmacore4Http20NamedPipeServiceSpecE:0x7fd384f53620] _serverNamespace = / _isRedirect = false _pipeName =/var/run/vmware/vpxd-webserver-pipe)

I can connect to my vcentre appliance 6 via web using port 5480 but then logs out immediately with session timed out.

I have tried connecting via console session and when I login with root and password get error connecting to server as shown below.

Any ideas?

kind regards

Peter

As a first step, please check whether the time on the ESXi host is correct.

In case it's off too far, be careful with changing the time manually, as this may affect running VMs!

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. Time is set to use NTP sources on all 3 of my ESXI 6 Hosts.

Hi peter,

could you check if the volumes does have enough space?

VMware Knowledge Base

Connect to the vCSA using SSH and do df -h at the console to see what percentage the volumes are.

Maybe follow the above link to increase the space.

Afterwards restart the vCSA and wait for it to start the services correctly

Best regards,

Chris

Hi Peter,

open the remote console of the vCSA through the ESXi host directly.

At the console press "Alt + F1" and it should present you the console.

Maybe, reboot the vCSA and try it again using SSH.

Hi Chris,

I have done both methods, Putty and Console in vsphere client and same result.

vCenter has been rebooted numerous times and its slow, hangs for long time around 90% on the horizontal progress bar.

When it still boots you should be able to switch to the "troubleshooting" screen using Alt + F12 ( or F11, can't really remember 😜 )

There should be more information about the current status of the boot process

Hi,

I booted the vcenter appliance in fail safe mode and I saw messages that it was out of space. But at the end of the boot had the normal logon screen and same issues as before.

Any other ideas?
