vSAN health check plugin

Hi All,

Anyone is using the vSAN health check plugin. My point is, is it really worth to enable this plug-in, if we have SCOM monitoring in-place. Is it free on vSAN std version ? what type of monitoring it is providing.

Regards,

Hello suhag79,

"Anyone is using the vSAN health check plugin."

Everyone is using the Health plug-in (or at least they should be), never seen a customers environment that wasn't using this on a daily basis - vSAN has so many elements and different layers, the Health-check allows easy monitoring of this.

This checks so many things that would be near impossible to keep track of constantly without this and new checks are added to it pretty much every release:

If you want to get a feel for what is in the Health check just deploy the vSAN 6.6 HOL lab to check it out:

The vSAN health check plug-in has been built-in for the past couple versions and is extremely useful at getting an understand of how well (or not so well) your environment is working. SCOM has nothing to do with vSAN and no specific integrations, so they are apples and oranges. The vSAN health monitors the state of the cluster including hardware health, object health, networking checks, basically anything having to do with vSAN's operation.

Hello suhag79,

No, it is part of vSAN/vSphere and costs nothing extra.
