I did some tests on a system based on POC vCloud VCE, I need to understand to respond to a request for my client.
From vCloud director can not directly perform snapshot of a vm
Ti's possible to snapshot a virtual machine on vCloud acting at the Virtual Center level without creating problems?
Or how I can handle for example the process of patching sharepoint, without a snapshot, but the same principle of maintaining security?
Ah, the old backup the cloud scenario ... I can only really commen on what is around now, and that's the functionallity as you understand it.
If a customer is asking about "what use to be available from vSphere", then we have to reset expectations for now about how the Cloud Deployment works.
It wouldn't be very "cloud like" if you had to pop into the vCenter of a PvDC to do work.
Maybe someone else will see this post and chime in.

Strictly speaking you shouldn't attempt a snapshot since it hasn't been implemented in the vCloud UI. Usually it hasn't been added for a reason.
If you do anything from the vCenter backing the Provider vDC, it may cause unexpected results (weird errors, etc).
There are very few things you can do in vCenter that won't really affect vCloud. One happens to be vMotion or SvMotion within the resources of a OvDC.
I'm not sure if snapshotting has really been looked at for thick provisioned VMs from vCloud.
I would absolutely NOT do this with anything that is configured for Rapid Provisioning (linked clones). Snapshots on LInked Clones = Bad Karma ... seen real bad things with people doing this with Lab Manager.
Worst case, you can capture a full clone with the vCloud UI ... patch the existing one ... then replace with the VM from the catalog as an exact copy if required.

Perfect, I agree fully on what you said, and is a confirmation of what I suspected.
But in this case how can I solve the problem of making or maintaining a snapshot of my VM before applying a change management plan? Only with "capture to full clone with the vCloud UI ... Patch ... then replace the existing one with the VM from the catalog as an exact copy if required." ?
In this situation the customer is asking me how to backup game machines during these processes, potentially risky, knowing full well what the customer vSphere ESX the world, based on the 'idea of the snapshot that you had and you have to ESX.
Thanks
