vCenter upgrade 6.7 to 7.0, getting blank screen for datastore selection

Hello,

Can anyone please help me, how to fix this?
I am trying to upgrade the vCenter appliance from 6.7 to 7.0 and getting blank screen for Datastore selection. We are not using Thin mode, so that is not an option.

You don't need to delete the complete profile for the user you are logged in with.

  • Go to the %appdata% folder (it opens the C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming folder)
  • Delete the installer folder.
  • Run the VCSA installer again and you see the datastores again

Hi NeenaJim,

Are you using external storage? What kind of storage?

Are you pointing to another vCenter for this first step appliance deployment?

I got a similar issue when pointing on a vCenter with a big inventory, in the end my solution was pointing directly to an ESXi host.

Kudos if it was helpful

Hello,

Yes, we are using external storage. Here the strange part is sometime I can see the storage and sometime it is not.

Hello Glodomi,

I will try to use different ESXi host next time when I initiate the update. Thank you for your suggestion

Was a profile issue for me, other users on the same machine could do it fine. It worked fine for me the first attempt.  Fix was to

-backup any shortcuts\settings\files on your profile then logoff

-someone else open up system \ Advanced system settings \ User profiles \ settings

-Delete the profile with the issue

-log back on, worked fine for me now

Or just create a local user to run it as or get someone else to deploy it

Did you restart the software (and make sure it isn't running in Task Manager? If you'd like to attach the log file, I'll try to see what's happening.
