    Hello

I am having same exact issues with Solaris 10, X86

The problem was resolved by following the steps mentioned below.

    Step-1

    Re-Install Vmware tools VMware Tools 9.0.0 build-782409

    Step-2

    Reboot Server

    Step-3

vmxnet and vmxnet3s files take backup

    to solaris servers

    root@solaristemp # cd /kernel/drv/amd64/

    root@solaristemp # cp vmxnet vmxnetbck

    root@solaristemp # cp vmxnet3s vmxnet3sbck

    Step-4

    Re-Install VMware Tools 10.0.0 build-3000743

    Step-5

    Reboot Server

    Step-6

We copy the backup file instead we receive re version 10 deamon.

    to solaris servers

    root@solaristemp # cd /kernel/drv/amd64/

    root@solaristemp # cp vmxnetbck vmxnet

    root@solaristemp # cp vmxnet3sbck vmxnet3s

    Step-7

You will find that VMware tools installed, but work on the Guest.

    Step-8

    root@solaristemp # /usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl

    Step-9

    Reboot Server

Once completed, we meet with no any problems.

Although not yet produce a legal solution we did not observe any other solution.

    Thanks.

    Best Regards.

I have used these to carry out the test on my Lab environment

As per the ESXi Host version "ESXi 6.0 Express Patch 6 BN : 3825889"

the available VMware Tools to Install on VMware Guest, failed to install VMware Tools with an error : "VMware Tools build 3560309 for Linux will not install on the operating system you are running. Please be sure you install the version of VMware Tools that is appropriate for your operating system."

WE suspected that Series of VMware Tools, it cannot be possible or it's hard to believe that all the VMware Tools version starting from 10.0.0 could not rely with the Solaris Guest OS.

It's pretty clear that Solaris Guest OS has issues, keeping the VMware Tools running, If end customer does not have support with Guest OS Vendor, we cannot go beyond our efforts let him ask to settle with old version of VMware Tools

    - Which VMware tools version is supported by Solaris 10 U8 or Solaris 11, note that I understand the VM can use the Tools 9.0.

VMware does support guest OS, we do not have such documentation for the same support of VMware Tools and compatibility.

    - If the release notes of the new VMware Tools 10.0.12/10.1.0 (will be released on 25/Oct/2016) indicate this issue can be fixed?

I have never mentioned that this issue is with VMware Tools, it was my advise to Test with newer version of VMware Tools.

    - The provided URL for OSPs is a correct URL as no OSP for Solaris VMs is provided, https://www.vmware.com/support/packages.html

No specific Guest OS Tools provided by Solaris, except Supported guest operating systems Lists are

Community ENTerprise Operating System (CentOS) 4.0 through 6.x

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 through 6.x

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9 through 11

SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 through 11

    Ubuntu Linux 8.04 through 12.04

For Solaris it's the same we need to use as provided by ESXi Host .

Finally issue is fixed by installing VMware Tools 10.1.0 & and 10.0.12 URL _ http://blogs.vmware.com/vsphere/2016/10/introducing-vmware-tools-10-1-10-0-12.html
