Hi,
I've been searching but could not find any related documentation.
I have a Linux VM which sets it's IP during boot up based on guestinfo.ovfEnv settings.
But after a vSphere HA event the command 'vmtoolsd --cmd "guestinfo.ovfEnv"' returns "No value found".
From testing this happens every time the VM is brought up automatically after a HA event.
If I power off/on the VM then vmtoolsd returns the correct ovfEnv settings.
From testing I found the following:
Power on from | guestinfo.ovfEnv accessible? |
---|
Manual power on from vCenter | Yes |
Auto power on after vSphere HA event | No |
Manual power on from ESX using vim-cmd | No |
I've tested this on Linux and Windows VM using older and newest VM tools 10.1.0.
Has anyone else seen this behaviour before?
