VMware 9.0.3 on windows7 64-bit host debian 7 (kali linux 1.0.6 64-bit)guest can't get shared folders to work I have a debian 7 guest that I created using vmware workstation 9.0.3. When I install the vmware tools, it looks like it works fine, and I make sure to say "yes" to add the hgfs support, however, after running vmware-config-tools.pl, my shared folders do not appear under /mnt/hgfs.
I run /usr/bin/vmware-hgfsclient, and it lists the various folders I have shared with the vm, but they are just not getting mounted.
If I run
$ mount -t vmhgfs .host:/ /mnt/hgfs/
I get an error message saying the device does not exist.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled vmware tools several times and have also tried the open-vm-toolbox to see if that will work, but so far nothign has worked.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
