vm slow performance

I booted up my linux vm and it is very slow all of a sudden. In the host task manager, it shows that the vm is using the disk at 0.0 mb/s. I restarted the guest a few times and each time i restart it the vm gets faster. The slow performance happened again every time I closed the vmware app and reopen it.

What OS are you running on the host, and what CPU is your PC?  If it's Windows 11 on an Intel Core 12th gen or newer CPU, you might need to disable Windows power throttling on the vmware-vmx.exe file (there are numerous posts in the forum on how to do that).
