pro purchase issue

I am currently looking to purchase VMware 17 pro.
I was wondering before I buy it, if I use the cd key on one computer, can I just use the same cd key if I need to use it on another computer later and move it?
Or is it linked to an account? I'm currently using it on my computer at school, but I'll be graduating in 2 years, so I'd like to buy a desktop at home and use it there.

Unless something has changed lately, you can use the key that you've purchased on another PC, as long as you remove the key from the current on (e.g. uninstall the VMware Workstation). This means that the key must only be used on a single system.

Current Workstation/Fusion licensing (for personal use) allows up to 3 computers on one license.

The license is tied to your account - if you purchase through VMware's website and/or register it, it will be in your account under Customer Connect.  You can update your email address if you need to in the future.
