I am experiencing the same problem from time to time with lack of memory trying to start a VM, IMy laptop has an I7 processor with 16GBRAM, 4GB graphics etc should have no issues with starting a VM. does anyone have any ideas?

not sure which exact issue you see, but maybe VMware Workstation 10.0.4 Release Notes will help.
If not, please provide some details about your environment, and the issue.
