I had the same issue and found that is was due to using Windows Explorer when extracting the tar.gz file downloaded from Cisco. I redownloaded the tar.gz then unzipped using 7-Zip. I was then able to Deploy the OVF selecting all 3 files; .ovf, .mf & .vmdk

Cheers, Will

Hello Will, the issue was I downloaded the FMC upgrade and was trying to open the install package.  I now downloaded the correct FMC install package 7.2.6 and tried to open in VMWARE workstation 17 but now getting message below:

Also I attached ovftool.log:    Found message in ovfrtool.log at bottom of the log that says: "Panic unable to allocate memory".  The FMCv virtual install package will not open in VMWARE Workstation 17.

Any thoughts?
