Hi.
Thank you for reading my post. I purchased/updated VMware Workstation Pro 15.5.1 via download and it appears that the download does not contain VMware Tools ISO file. Could someone please tell me how to obtain VMware Tools?
Also, I just read without VMware Tools installed I can't access a shared drive. If that is the case, is the only method of installation to load the ISO file onto a CD or USB?
Thanks.
Drew

You install VMWare Tools after the OS has already been loaded and is running...

The "shared drive" feature you mention is probably the Shared Folder facility, which
I believe requires VMWare Tools only if one wants to change shared-folder set-up at
run-time...

VMWare supports both (simulated) "hard drive" and "CD/DVD ROM drive." The
hard drive could be a VMWare virtual disk or a physical disk. The ROM drive
could be a physical CD/DVD drive or an .iso image. The OS is usually installed
via the ROM drive, Likewise, VMWare tools is installed via use of the ROM drive.
Hi,
I don't know where you read that it isn't part of the download, as it is actually part of your install.
Once you have installed VMware Workstation, the .iso files are all installed in the VMware installation folder.
Normally they are all installed at:
C:\Program Files (x86)\VMware\VMware Workstation
Just look for the .iso files down there.
You do not need to navigate there to attach the .iso files though as VMware Workstation either installs it for you (easy install), or you can install the VMware Tools via the menu.
Turn on the VM if not running already
From the menu "VM" select "Install VMware Tools"
Follow the steps in the VM.
If VMware Tools are already installed then it will say "Reinstall VMware Tools" as menu option instead.
