You can try to resolve it on following way

Uninstall current version, reboot, delete all files and foders in %TEMP% and then install new version

Sometimes you need to temporary disable your antivirus. Avast or McAfee have been reported to destroy your installation

Have you verified the checksum of the downloaded file?

Are you running the installer As Admin?

@Gizzie , no uninsntall. i try to run it the first time as check update and so on..And no, i did not disable Avast . I did several uldate from 16.ol to 16.2.4 before without any problem. I'll try in the next day running a backup image before for safe rollback.

@RDPetruskaofficial checksum  for VMware-workstation-full-16.2.5-20904516.exe are:

MD5SUM: b72276af0d1f093c146c6623c463218f
SHA1SUM: 01ddbeb179444bb6bf9ee41e070de362c6134ce9

My checksum are good: And No i did not run it as administrator ...

Hi.

Done!

unfortunately I followed all the recommended steps and I don't know exactly what the solution was but now the latest 16.2.5 is installed without any errors.

Steps:

  • Disable AV
  • Remove the previous version
  • Reboot, then delete the %TEMP% content
  • Reboot
  • Install the 16.2.5 PKG with ADMIN PRIVILEGES
  • Reboot, run VMWare Workstation and VMs
  • All done.

I hope this is not the practice for future versions... Thank you for the support.

Roby
