I'm successfully running Datacolor Spyder4Elite (monitor color profiling/calibration application) in Windows 7 on bare metal. Their architecture relies on periodic reloading of the video LUT (Look-Up Table) in the graphics adapter. Does the VMware Workstation v9.0.2 virtualized graphics adapter support that functionality? If so, then I should be able to profile my monitors inside virtual machines. Otherwise, I would have to move that functionality into the host layer, which is a slippery slope, obviously.
It's not just monitor profiling, of course. I edit photographs with Adobe CC Photoshop and Adobe Camera Raw, and I print them with Qimage. Both of those applications install ICC profiles. Can all of that be performed correctly within virtual machines? If not, then virtualization seems a dead-end for me...
Thanks in advance for your assistance!
