Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework conflicting with Workstation

Does anybody have experience with this program (or perhaps it's a driver)? I could not launch any VMs until I uninstalled it...

I either get "Internal Error" or "Cannot find a valid peer process to connect to" when starting a VM if the program/driver is installed, and everything works perfectly when the program/driver is not installed. The program/driver version is 7.1.0.2103. Please let me know if any other information would be helpful to resolving this problem.
