Fails to install vmmon vmnet : Host kernel 5.14.2 vmware workstation 16.1.2 Linux Mint 20.2

Generation of vmmon and vmnet ends with a popup saying : Unable to install all modules.

My system is Ryzen 5950X 64 Gb memory running linux mint 20.2.

I have compiled the kernel from source.

Attaching the logs generated.

Any ideas appreciated.

With such new hardware, I'm surprised you chose Linux Mint as your distro. Does your system work under one of the Mint-supplied kernels, say v5.11?

Well it is the kernel that matters.

Everything works on 5.11 kernel but I have been running on 5.13.15 perfectly.

I have nvidia gpu:s and my status is:

5.13.15  Nvidia dkms version 460 compiles ok and vmware compiles ok.

5.14.2 Had to upgrade Nvidia dkms to ver 470 for compiling ok but vmware fails.

You will need at least this patch to build against a 5.14.x kernel but I would rather suggest using current workstation-16.1.2 branch from that repository.

Well mkubecek thank You for the information/tip , I have now managed to compiled the two modules against kernel 14.3 and it works excellent.
