Dedeicated VMFS partition/drive

I'm switching from ESXi as I want one machine and easier access to VMs.

I couldn't find anything about this but was wondering if you can format a drive or partition specifically for VMs for use with Workstation? i.e. rather than storing them as files in NTFS (in Windows host). Wouldn't that make it run quicker/better?

If you use physical disks and partition them for VMs you are more or less limited to 4 VMs per disk

you can not use snapshots ....

handling vmdks on NTFS is much much easier
