Cannot connect to VMX

When starting VMware workstation 6.04 I receive the following error in my application event log. One error for each VM. None of my VM's autostart. I haven't seen anyone with a solution.

Try to ignore this - it is just background noise from a fat service - if you are admin - disable vmauthd

One part is trekkie-heritage - you know the Q-continuum ?

Another part is a reference to one of my alltime favorite music tracks. As I am a fretless bassplayer this goes to the tune Continuum on Jaco Pastorius debut album from 1976

Now after 5 years in this madhouse it also means it goes on and on and on ...
