BSOD upon resolution change in WIN2000 VM

Who's using Windows 2000 anymore anyway?   Well I have a perfect fit for VMWare and Windows 2000.   Currently there is a falling computer (hardware related) and it is running WIN2000 and it contains an outdated software that is used very rarely for calibration data.  The thing is that this software must be kept running for a while.   SO...  Virtualizing is the answer as finding Win2000 compatible hardware gets harder and harder.

Using the locally installed Standalone converter V 4.0.1 I am able to create a VM.   However when running this VM there is continueious BSOD upon change in resolution or moving of VMWare screen to full screen.   I have tried several times by restarting the VM process.  Each time I install VMTools.   Currently I am running VMWare V11.  I have tried Player 6 and 7 to and get the BSOD results.   No errors are mentioned other than the BSOD.

What can I do to find the issue?  Can this be fixed?

Thanks
