BSOD Workstation 15.0.1 starting VM in Windows 10 20H2 sometimes

I can't figure this out.  Running Workstation 15.0.1 and Windows 10 is version 20H2.  Sometimes when I start Windows 10 VM I get a blue screen of death BSOD.  After reboot then I have to go clear out the .lck and cache files before it would let me start again.  If I'm lucky then the VM will run.  What could be causing this?  The PC has a Ryzen 9 3900x CPU and 64GB of RAM on 1TB m.2 nvme ssd.

Hi,

Well VMware Workstation 15.0.1 was released in November 2018 and you're trying to run it on an OS released in 2020 ... I'd say that alone could be a reason for some instability.

There's been numerous of fixes in Workstation and you can upgrade all the way to 15.5.7 without having to pay anything. Unless you have a very old processor in your workstation, then that should be your very first troubleshooting step.
Download from here: Workstation 15.5.7 for windows

If your hardware is too old for that then go at least to Workstation 15.1.0 Windows
